Statewide Academic Planning
Academic and educational programs are the University’s core function. The University must engage in a well informed on-going academic planning process that combines individual MAU program review and development with an integrated, system-wide perspective. Not previously undertaken in a comprehensive way, this is necessary to ensure that State needs are addressed and that there is a rational relationship among program actions at one MAU, those at others, and a balanced and coherent approach throughout the System. On-going academic planning with this comprehensive, cross-cutting approach will:
- reward participating components of the System with appropriate funding allocations,
- drive system-wide facilities prioritization,
- provide a basis for enrollment management,
- facilitate effective performance-based budgeting,
- establish academic planning and an academic plan as a continuous, active process,
- enhance UA effectiveness and credibility in meeting the needs of State constituencies
