OIT Services
The Office of Information Technology provides a variety of IT services to students, faculty, and staff at UAF, University of Alaska Statewide, and throughout the University of Alaska system.
OIT Core Services Includes:
Audio conferencing is currently outsourced. Departments can create ad-hoc audio conferencing accounts as needed through Encounter Collaborative.
In September 2005, the University of Alaska engaged in a contract with ACS for all cellular telephone services. Reduced rates are available for some phones and accessories for UA affiliates.
Providing service to UAF and Statewide, Desktop Support offers assistance with desktop hardware, software, and coordinates the machine builds for the UAF Desktop Technology Refresh Program.
Email accounts for UAF and Statewide affiliates are created through the OIT Support Center.
At UAF, Blackboard is the course management tool of choice. Blackboard allows instructors to post grades, information, and assignments online.
Internet/Network Connectivity
The University of Alaska provides Ethernet access to students, faculty, and staff on campus. All dorm rooms have Ethernet access, as well as the majority of offices on campus. In addition, OIT offers wireless Ethernet in various locations on campus, as well as walk-up ports.

Shared use licensing allows multiple users to access the same application at the same time. The number of shared use licenses is different for each application. The key server tracks available licenses and application use.
MyUA provides secure access to online services, features, and information to UA students, faculty, and staff. You'll find the information and tools you want with three clicks or less in a personalized environment that you can customize. Information from UAOnline is available via MyUA.
Telephone Services provides all phone services for the UAF campus. They install all the copper and fiber optic lines for phones and computers. Please report telephone trouble online - or submit a work request to change/add/remove phones.
OIT provices training on a variety of applications, including Banner Navigation, Enterprise Directory, MS Office products, Blackboard, Roxen, Meeting Maker, and many others.
Offering both academic and administrative video conferences, VCS is dedicated to providing the University of Alaska with the highest quality video conferencing services possible.
Part of OIT's Core Applications, the Web Services Group provides web development services and consulting related to developing and maintaining the University of Alaska and UAF websites and online applications.
