Oracle Upgrade Affects Banner and UAOnline

The Oracle Upgrade scheduled for this coming weekend will cause Banner and UAOnline to go offline Friday evening. The upgrade process, for the Production system, is expected to last all weekend, with systems coming back online Sunday evening. General details of the outage are available in the outage notification, while milestone details will be posted separately and updated over the course of the outage.
UAF Website Updating

UAF Roxen has moved to production. To update UAF websites users will need to connect to the host apache.uaf.edu. Anyone using the www.uaf.edu host name to update their webpages on the current UAF server (apache) will be unable to do so.
Please change any settings on any programs used to ftp information to www.uaf.edu to apache.uaf.edu.

Additionally, anyone using the unofficial name of www1.uaf.edu will be unable to connect to www.uaf.edu after this change.
Office 2007 Document Compatability

Office 2007 introduced significant changes for Office users. In addition to the changes in the interface, came changes in the format of saved documents, making Office 2007 native documents incompatible with previous versions of Office. For this problem there are workarounds for both users of Office 2007 and users of previous Office versions.
For Office 2007 users, when initially saving a document, instead of clicking on the disk icon to save the document, click on the Office button icon, and select Save As. In the Save As dialog box, below the file name field, select the 97-2003 Document type.
For Office 97-2003 users, Microsoft has a made available for download the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats. The Compatibility Pack will allow you to open, edit, and save in the new Office 2007 format.

Login Changes for Smart Classroom Computers

In an attempt to impove the usability of the computers in Smart Classrooms, OIT Campus
Technology Services and OIT Desktop Support have moved these computers into the UAF Windows
Domain. This means that UAF Faculty can login to the computers in Smart Classrooms using
their own UAF Domain credentials. An
