Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) using Dreamweaver MX 2004
The Office of Information Technology requires
secure transactions on servers. Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 includes
an SFTP feature. Below you will find instructions for setting up secure
FTP uploading.
Under the Site Menu click on Manage Sites
Select your site from the
pop-up list and click on the Edit… button

Click on the Advanced tab

Drag to the Remote Info section on the left.
Click on the “Use Secure FTP (SFTP)” button

Hit OK.

For faculty websites, please use the above configuration. The password is the password of the personal email account.
Hit Done.

You are now set up to use
SFTP in Dreamweaver. If you wish to use the internal SFTP included
in Dreamweaver, you must use Dreamweaver MX 2004 – it is the first version of Dreamweaver with this SFTP
feature. You can
download a shared copy of Dreamweaver MX 2004 from the OIT Download Site.
To Increase the SFTP Timeout
for Dreamweaver MX 2004
If you are using the SFTP feature and are having trouble connecting
to the web server, you may need to increase the amount of time Dreamweaver
will attempt to connect to the server before it returns an unable to
connect message.
In Dreamweaver, go to the Edit Menu and Drag down to Preferences.

Click on Site and increase the number of seconds for FTP timeout

Hit OK
You have now increased the SFTP timeout. |
