      Username and Password discussion

Don’t use the number 1 – too close to the letter l

Use strong password – minimum of 6 characters

Plans are to provide 24-hour access to password reset

Password history – no re-use of 3 OK

Need to educate people on how to create good (secure) passwords

      Pilot recruitment

WG agreed that it makes sense to coordinate pilot groups among the MAUs.

Heather is gathering names. No one will be turned away who wants to participate in the pilot.

      Content Planning

WG was asked to review the scoping document and send comments to Heathr via the listserv.

      Communication Plan updates

Jackie Stormer reported that a portal blurb has been placed in the Dec. 10 issue of the faculty and staff newsletter (Cornerstone).

A generic portal blurb will be placed in the 2005-06 catalog, the fall 2005 class schedule and the fall 2005 Tanana Valley Campus community bulletin.

Heather has made or is planning to make the following presentations:

Dec. 6, Chancellor’s Cabinet

Dec. 8, Provost’s Council

Dec. 10, Staff Council

Dec. 13, Faculty Senate

Dec. 17, Public information officer consortium

E-mail messages are going out after the presentations.

Crystal has a journalism student worker who is willing to write an article on the portal for possible publication in the Sun Star. WG thought this a fine idea.

      Training plan

Heather asked if the WG wanted to build a training plan as a group or assign a smaller subcommittee to work on it. No decision was reached, but the WG would like to see a copy of the SW plan. Heather will ask for a copy from SW.

      Next meeting

Tentatively set for Jan. 12 unless there are issues the WG needs to address as a result of the Dec. 17 Coordinating Team meeting.

The WG may also meet on Jan. 19 to get back on a two-week rotation.
