Help for First Time MyUA Login

MyUA uses the University of Alaska identity management system called Authentication Service (AuthServ) to validate your identity. AuthServ is synchronized with EDIR, the university's enterprise directory.

Use these instructions to set up your AuthServ credentials only if you have received an email saying your AuthServ account has recently been activated.

Do not use these instructions if you have previously used any application that uses AuthServ (MyUA, EDIR, Start Walking, Peregrine Service Center, GINA, etc.). The AuthServ credentials you already have set up work for all of these applications. Go to MyUA and login.

Logging in for the first time?

1	Activation - You will be notified when your AuthServ account is activated.
2	UA Username or UA User ID number - Enter your UA User ID number or your UA Username in the “UA Username or UserID” field (see definitions below).
3	Social Security and Birth Date - Enter the last four digits of your Social Security Number. Use the drop down function to enter your birth date.
4	Password - Enter your new password in the “Password” field and re-enter the same Password in the “Password Confirmation” field.
5	Log In - Click the “Log In” button and follow the instructions for a secret password reset question and answer.
6	Email Selection - The MyUA login wizard will prompt you to select an anchor email account. If you are successful, you will have logged into MyUA.

UA User ID Definition

A University of Alaska UserID (variously referred to as student ID, employee ID, UA ID, UAOnline ID, Banner ID and University of Alaska System Identification Number) is also assigned in the Banner system and uniquely identifies a student, faculty or staff member. UserID is an 8 digit number; the same number found on official paper work for an individual and the ID used to login to UAOnline.

UA Username Definition

A University of Alaska Username is assigned in the Banner system and uniquely identifies a student, faculty or staff member. Username is comprised of your first and middle initials followed by last name and a sequence number. The sequence number is present only if a username was previously generated for the same initials and last name.
