Jim Johnsen was appointed to serve as Vice President for Administration in 2006. Previous positions at the University of Alaska include Vice President for Faculty and Staff Relations (2003-2006), Chief of Staff (1998-2003), and Director of Labor Relations (1996-1998). He holds a doctorate in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania, a master's from the University of Chicago, and a bachelor's from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
